    • He first discovered the attraction of California when he attended Stanford University, receiving both, a Bachelor of Arts as well as a Master of Science and Biology degree. After graduation Dr. Wieland worked as a marine biologist in the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador, where he was an instructor and researcher at the Charles Darwin Research Center.

    During this time Dr. Wieland was able to hone his Spanish language skills and remains fluent today.
